Kaitlyn & Tristan’s Field and City Adventure

Kaitlyn and Tristan’s Fort Worth engagement session blended two stunning settings into one unforgettable evening. We started in the lush greenery of Tandy Hills and ended with glowing rooftop views in downtown Fort Worth. The mix of wide-open nature and city lights captured two sides of their love story beautifully.. of laid-back country charm and elevated city vibes. We kicked off the evening at the rolling green trails of Tandy Hills Natural Area and ended downtown with golden hour views from a rooftop garage. Their natural chemistry and joyful energy made the whole shoot feel easy and full of genuine connection.

Green Hills and Windy Magic at Tandy Hills

Our first stop for their Fort Worth engagement session was Tandy Hills, a gem just minutes from downtown but totally immersed in nature. The hills were covered in greenery and wild grasses. Trees surrounded the area, making it feel secluded and peaceful. Kaitlyn wore a white dress with high heels and a custom jean jacket bedazzled with her future last name: “Mrs. Dykes.” Her hair was down, and the windy day made it all look so dreamy and romantic.

Tristan wore cowboy boots and hat, a pinstriped button-down, jeans, and a standout belt buckle. His outfit had personality and felt totally true to who he is. They laughed as we walked the trails and shot in the open fields. Their joy never stopped. We talked about wedding planning, their love of country music, and what their first dance songs might be.

Effortless Connection and Natural Chemistry

Above all, what stood out was how genuine and easygoing they both were. Kaitlyn and Tristan are one of those couples you instantly feel comfortable around. Instead of posing, they simply enjoyed being together. Every photo felt natural and full of real emotion. And something I’ll never forget? Tristan casually saying he’s most excited to get a photo with me on their wedding day. Cue the tears—how sweet is that?

After about 45 minutes to an hour at Tandy Hills, we packed up and headed toward downtown Fort Worth for a completely different look.

Rooftop Romance in Downtown Fort Worth

For the second half of their Fort Worth engagement session, we headed to a rooftop garage with stunning views of the Fort Worth skyline. It was the perfect way to catch sunset in the city while keeping things relaxed and fun. For a fresh vibe, they changed into sleek new outfits. Tristan swapped into a black cowboy hat and black button-down, and Kaitlyn wore a short black dress with the cutest black heels—complete with little bows on the back.

Kaitlyn brought a glittery champagne bottle she customized with a gold ribbon and their wedding date. The glasses they brought were sentimental, too—they had picked them up together from a winery they visited early in their relationship.

We popped champagne at the top of the garage, did a little toast, and made sure to capture that iconic champagne spray moment. It was playful and fun—and totally captured their energy.

Blue Hour and Flashy Finishes

As twilight settled in, we moved to the street level for more creative shots. The glow of blue hour made the city lights pop, and we captured some fun nighttime shots. I played with flash to give them a little edge and variety, and we found the perfect window light for a dramatic silhouette shot to end the night.

We ended the night chatting in the parking garage for 15 more minutes. Everyone left even more excited for the wedding.

Why Field and City Locations Make Engagement Sessions Extra Special

I love when couples opt for multiple locations for their engagement photos. You get two totally different vibes that reflect different parts of your personality and story. With Kaitlyn and Tristan, the field and the city gave us softness and sparkle, country and chic—and together, it told their story perfectly.

Getting Ready for Their October Wedding

Their upcoming wedding at Davis & Grey Farms this fall is going to be incredible. I can’t wait to photograph their next big chapter. If their engagement session was any preview, it’s going to be a day full of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
