La Jolla Wedding at the Wedding Bowl | A Romantic Pacific Coast Celebration

October 3 | La Jolla, California

A Story That Spans States & Seasons

I headed all the way to La Jolla for their wedding but Mehgan and I go way back. We met years ago at North Frisco Athletics (formerly North Frisco CrossFit) in Texas. We bonded over our love of fitness and community. Even after Mehgan moved we’ve stayed in touch thanks to social media.

Mehgan met her future wife and perfect match, Taylor, at Camp LeJeune in North Carolina. Fast forward a few years: stationed in San Diego, building a life together (with their adorable pup Kota Bear!), and planning a wedding that would take place in one of the most stunning coastal locations in the U.S.—The Wedding Bowl in La Jolla, California. When Mehgan reached out to ask if I’d fly out to photograph their wedding day, I immediately said yes. I love destination weddings, and this La Jolla California wedding was truly unforgettable.

West Coast Warmth: Pre-Wedding Moments

My husband Dustin (who second shot this wedding with me!) and I arrived in La Jolla a day early to scout the ceremony and reception locations. We met up with Mehgan and Taylor at the Cuvier Club, their reception venue, for a final walkthrough and detail planning. Then we took some time to explore the local restaurants and take in the iconic views.

The morning of the wedding, after a peaceful beachside run, we joined Mehgan and Taylor at The Scripps Inn where they were getting ready. Mehgan wore her Marine Corps officer blues—a powerful and personal choice—while Taylor wore a stunning, form-fitting white wedding dress. Their first look was right outside the inn, framed by a doorway wrapped in greenery and florals. The California sun peeked out at just the right moment, creating a golden glow that felt like magic.

Mehgan’s identical twin sister was by her side, offering support and even handing her the end of her tie to help dry the happy tears. It was such a sweet and emotional moment—one that went crazy on TikTok when I posted their beautiful photos.

Saying “I Do” at The Wedding Bowl in La Jolla

There are few ceremony locations more breathtaking than The Wedding Bowl. Nestled right along the Pacific Ocean, it offers private seclusion while still embracing the full view of the coast. It’s lush, peaceful, and surrounded by natural beauty—a perfect match for Mehgan and Taylor’s love story.

Kota walked down the aisle in style (and stole everyone’s hearts). The ceremony was heartfelt, intimate, and full of emotion. One of my favorite parts came right after they were officially married—when several of their military friends performed a sword salute for them as they recessed down the aisle. It was powerful and deeply meaningful.

La Jolla Wedding Sunset Portraits & Sentimental Details

After the ceremony, we headed to the cliffs for portraits while Dustin photographed cocktail hour back at the Cuvier Club. The ocean breeze, the golden hour light, and Taylor’s dad lovingly helping carry Taylor’s bouquet and train—it was such a sweet, supportive moment that said everything about the love surrounding this couple.

The coastal backdrop was an absolute dream for portraits. From soft smiles to joyful kisses and laughter, it felt like the ocean itself was celebrating with us.

Celebrating at the Cuvier Club

Mehgan changed into a crisp, chic pantsuit and the two joined in on cocktail hour at the Cuvier Club’s outdoor terrace—a space lit by string lights and filled with lawn games and cocktails. The energy was vibrant but deeply personal, and every detail was thoughtfully chosen.

Once inside, the real party began. Mehgan and Taylor danced all night surrounded by their closest people. It was the kind of reception that feels like a warm hug—joyful, real, and full of life. You could feel how deeply loved these two are by everyone around them.

Why This La Jolla Wedding at the Wedding Bowl Was One to Remember

From the first look to the sword salute, every moment of this day was a reflection of Mehgan and Taylor’s story—strength, connection, joy, and unwavering love. I feel incredibly honored to have witnessed and captured it all.
