Lifestyle Family Session with the Ells in North Dallas
A Lifestyle Family Session in North Dallas That Felt Like Catching Up with Old Friends
Photographing the Ell family always feels like reconnecting with longtime friends. Years ago, we attended the same church in North Dallas where Aaron Ell sang. I still remember being completely blown away by his voice. Later, we found out they lived just a few houses down from us at one point—something we laugh about now, wishing we had known each other better back then. But now? I get the honor of photographing their sweet family during our lifestyle family sessions year after year in North Dallas.
Watching Their Family Grow
Elle first reached out when she was pregnant with Marlowe. We planned a maternity session, and it was the start of a journey I’ve had the joy of documenting through the years. Watching families grow through my lens is one of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer. Marlowe has grown so much since that first session. Seeing how kids change from one session to the next never stops being amazing.
The Sweetest Little Girl
Marlowe is a joy to photograph. She’s always smiling, full of personality, and keeps everyone on their toes in the best way. She’s the kind of child who lights up a room without even trying. During our recent session, she ran freely, giggled nonstop, and gave us those unprompted, real-life moments that photographers dream about capturing. It’s clear that Elle and Aaron are raising her in such a loving, fun home.
Girl Moms and Easy Conversation
One of the things I love most about photographing Elle is how natural and easy she is to talk to. We’re both girl moms with just one daughter, and there’s something special about that bond. Elle, being an only child herself, has offered perspective that’s helped me release some of the mom guilt I’ve felt about having an only child. Her honesty, kindness, and ability to make others feel seen always stands out.
From Client to Friend
Since that first maternity session, Elle has referred other families my way. It’s one of the highest compliments I could ever receive. Getting to photograph the people she loves is a true honor. Over time, our client-photographer relationship has grown into a genuine friendship. We even have a monthly girls’ dinner with other moms—a space to connect, vent, and laugh as women in our 30s trying to build community. I’ve only made it to one so far thanks to a packed wedding season, but I can’t wait to join more when my schedule opens up.
The Importance of Familiarity in Family Session
Sessions like these remind me why I love this job. There’s something special about photographing a family over the years. That level of comfort and trust allows for real moments to unfold. Marlowe feels safe to be herself. Elle and Aaron know they don’t have to force smiles or pose perfectly. It creates space for connection, not just photos.
Why Documenting These Moments Matters
These years go fast. That’s something we always talk about as moms. One season blends into the next, and suddenly that tiny newborn you held is a running, laughing toddler. I believe in photographing these seasons as they are—joyful, a little chaotic, and full of personality. The Ells always lean into that, and it’s why their photos feel so real.
Planning Your Own Lifestyle Family Session in North Dallas
If you’re thinking about booking a session but wondering if it’s worth the effort, let this be your sign. You don’t need a perfectly coordinated wardrobe or well-behaved toddler. You just need to show up as you are. The most meaningful images come from connection, not perfection. Whether you’re welcoming your first baby or just trying to freeze time for a moment, I’d love to help you document it.
