Short on Time, Big on Connection

Between carpools, snack breaks, and bedtime routines, scheduling a full photo session can feel like a big ask—especially for families with young kids. That’s exactly why family mini sessions have become a favorite offering for so many of my returning clients.

These 15-minute sessions are fast, relaxed, and designed to capture real connection without the pressure of a longer shoot. You get beautiful, professionally edited images that showcase your family’s love and personality, all in a quick and efficient format.

Made for Families in Every Season

Many of my mini sessions are booked by families I’ve photographed in the past—wedding couples who are now parents, or families returning year after year as their children grow. There’s something truly special about watching these stories unfold through the lens.

I also reserve a handful of spots for new families each season, so if you’re just discovering my work, welcome! Mini sessions are perfect for:

  • Young families who want sweet, in-the-moment images without overtiring the kids
  • Couples who aren’t engaged or already married looking for professional photos together
  • Returning clients who want a yearly update or seasonal refresh
  • Busy parents with limited time but big photo goals
  • Pregnancy announcement photos with a sonogram or a quick maternity photo session

What’s Included in a Mini Session

Your 15-minute mini session includes:

  • 20 professionally edited, high-resolution images
  • A beautifully designed online gallery with print release
  • Exclusive access to my professional print lab for easy ordering
  • Delivery 3 weeks of your session date
  • Option to purchase your full gallery if you want even more images
  • Choice of an outdoor field or (when available) indoor studio setting

Why Mini Sessions Work So Well

1. Short = Sweet (and Successful)
Young kids don’t need an hour to shine. In fact, 15 minutes often brings out their best energy—quick enough to keep them engaged, long enough to capture variety.

2. Built for Real Life
There’s no need to overthink. I’ll guide you through everything from poses to prompts, so your only job is to show up, relax, and enjoy the moment.

3. A Season-by-Season Tradition
Mini sessions are a wonderful way to document your family year after year. Many of my clients treat them as an annual tradition—and their gallery of memories keeps growing.

Mini Sessions vs. Full Sessions — What’s the Difference?

Mini sessions are just that—mini. They’re structured, fast-paced, and focused on capturing the essentials: full family photos and some individual shots. This format works well for families who want a clean, classic update without a long commitment.

However, the short timeframe means there’s limited opportunity for creative posing or candid moments, especially for larger families or those wanting a more relaxed, documentary-style session.

If you want a more organic, candid, and flexible photo experience, I definitely recommend booking a full portrait session instead. These sessions allow for more creativity, natural interactions, and plenty of time to capture your unique family dynamics.

Want In? Here’s How to Get First Dibs

Mini sessions open seasonally and spots go quickly—especially in the fall. I always give my past clients first access via email before opening any remaining spots to the public.

If you’ve worked with me before, keep an eye on your inbox for your early booking link. New here? I’d love to photograph your family too! I reserve a handful of spots each season for new families. You can fill out a portrait session inquiry form or e-mail me directly at molly@mollymurphyphotography.com to be notified as soon as booking goes live.

Why Families Love Mini Sessions

Mini sessions fit perfectly into busy family life. They’re:

  • Low-pressure: Quick and efficient with no lengthy prep or multiple outfit changes
  • Affordable: A great way to get professional photos without committing to a full session price
  • Flexible: Indoor or outdoor options make it easy to find a setting that suits your family’s style and comfort
  • Perfect for Little Ones: Short enough to keep toddlers engaged and happy without meltdowns

Many families find mini sessions to be the ideal way to keep their family photos current without the stress of scheduling a large shoot. They’re also perfect for milestone moments like birthdays, seasonal updates, or just because.
